Hi Folks, Due to our personal re-location and epic nature of this film, we have decided to CANCEL this Wednesday’s planned screening of Thundercrack!. We are fully expecting to show it at some future time.
(Filmmaker, Lynne Sachs in person)
Through twenty-five years of ever-active filmmaking, Brooklyn-based Lynne Sachs has developed a unique, personally expressive body of speculative documentary that is rich with empathy, placing the intimate experiences of individuals and families in the context of world events and global history. Her recent Your Day Is My Night portrays the lives of immigrants living in “shift-bed” apartments in the heart of New York City’s Chinatown, homes that are shared by multiple families and which form tightly interconnected multi-generational communities. Working in close collaboration with a group of Chinatown residents for one-and-a-half years, varied interviews and conversations gave way to an improvisatory film script resulting in a deeply moving film in which these non-actors portray themselves in intimately re-created performances of domestic life.
After an AMAZING Fall season of over 25 shows of film & music, Exploded View is taking a holiday break till mid January to recoup and get our Spring season planned. Thanks for all of the patronage of the wonderful artists and audiences this season. Look for our next calendar sometime soon after the new year.
“Polycephaly consists of five collaborating pairs of Tucson-based artists. Having never worked together before, each pair was asked to create a work in any medium with collaboration being their only guideline. This exhibition format fosters exchange between local artists and works towards building connections within Tucson’s emerging art scene.

We are super excited to have been nominated for a 2014 LUMIE Award for Emerging Arts Organization by the Tucson Pima Arts Council. Thanks their the support of experimental media in Tucson!!
As we finished up our Spring Season 2014, we have been reflecting on what a great first year we have had at Exploded View. We are working toward some summer shows, but our next full season/calendar will be in late August/early September. We had had a wonderful “final show” w/ Avant-AZ which was SRO, with many of the Tucson experimental makers in the house. Many thanks go out to all the dozens of artists that have shown works in person this year ,during our run of over 45 shows, since last October. Also, special thanks to Associate Curator Carl Hanni for his programming/support & DJ skills this year. More to come!!!
