Saxorcism is a 4-channel reactive sound installation by Tucson-based artist Jim Colby. Every sound the audience experiences originates from a recording of a saxophone. The installation resides at the tangled nodes of composition, sculpture, collective improvisation, and synthetic field recordings.

The showing will conclude with an electronic music performance by Jim Colby of compositions made with saxophone samples, alongside performances by John Niekrasz, Patrick Cain, and Born2Death as part of the Tucson Noise Symposium. ¡TEENAGE WASTELAND!

Tisch Abelow (NYC) and Wesley Fawcett Creigh (Tucson) pay a surreal homage to their teenage years with an experimental documentary film comprised of footage taken 12 years earlier during their senior year of high school. In the fall of 2013, Tisch revisited this footage and pared it down into a short film, mostly starring Wesley’s father, which she calls, “a musing on the mundane.” In addition, there will be a collaborative 2-D artwork spanning the course of their friendship reflecting on the nihilistic and absurd tendencies of youth. Please join us as we “come of age” with cake and local DJ’s.

“Babboo’s Moving Pictures” is a series of animated paintings made for Exploded View by Noah Saterstrom.  While the paintings are static, each is embedded with a sequence of painted motions that were captured and will be projected as a short animation.   Also on view will be works on paper extracted from the website “Noah’s Work-a-Day Page” (www.noahsaterstrom.com/workaday) where he has been posting a new painting or drawing nearly every day for the last three years.
